Taliban leaders have declared that ‘a woman’s place is in the house - or in the grave’
I’m Dr Sally Henderson, the Senior Program Manager at ActionAid Australia. Since 2013, I have been going to Afghanistan. I’m so passionate about helping the amazingly strong and courageous Afghan women to build a brighter future.
But right now, that future is facing a frightening threat. The Taliban is regaining ground and risking women’s rights.
Can you make a gift of $21 and support women to come together in the face of this threat?
Taliban leaders have declared that ‘a woman’s place is in the house - or in the grave’.
If the Taliban come back to power, they will once again try to forbid women to leave their homes and do paid work. The only chance that women will have to survive is to produce their own food.
ActionAid women’s groups are helping women gain the skills to to earn their own income. They’re supporting women like Aye to take back charge of their lives. “In the past woman like me have not been allowed to participate in community decisions. Now I have become aware of my rights”.
The more women we can help to become empowered, the harder it will be for all our amazing progress to be rolled back.
Please make an urgent gift and support women to earn an income and be able to stand against the threat of the Taliban.
I can’t thank you enough for your crucial support.
Warmest regards,
Dr Sally Henderson
