News about anti-Tesla vandalism

Tesla owner demands $1 million from man who scratched his car – He was caught on Tesla's dashcam. Model X dashcam footage led to suspect's arrest. Incidents also in Greece.

from US media:
Anti-Tesla vandalism is at an all-time high. While some criticism of Elon Musk may be fair, Tesla owners are now caught up in the storm created by the Tesla CEO's involvement in politics. That's the case for Jeff Nguyen, a Model X owner who found his car key-cracked and used his Tesla's built-in "Sentry Mode" security system to track down the culprit. Now, he's taking the man to court for a hefty seven-figure lawsuit.

“I just bought it because it was an electric car,” Nguyen said. “This is a lot of fun to drive. It really has nothing to do with politics or anything like that.” The car’s dashcam caught the attacker, and owner Nguyen posted the video online, leading police to arrest him.

If you're not already familiar with Tesla's Sentry Mode, it's a built-in security feature that activates the car's exterior cameras whenever it detects a potential threat. Essentially, it turns your Tesla into a 24/7 surveillance system, recording everything that happens around the car while it's parked. In Nguyen's case, the system recorded the entire incident, providing compelling evidence that helped police quickly identify and arrest the suspect.

All of this comes as the US government has labeled violent attacks on Tesla dealerships, stations and cars as acts of domestic terrorism. The FBI has formed a task force to investigate and prosecute these attacks, which are becoming increasingly frequent and brazen.

If Nguyen manages to secure a seven-figure settlement for a car key hit, it could set a significant precedent for future cases involving vandalism.

from greek media:

Tesla car vandalized in N. Greece; 4th incident in the country, March 24, 2025
The “trend” of attacking Elon Musk’s Tesla cars has reportedly “reached northern Greece”, this time in Toumpa suburb of Thessaloniki, the second biggest city in the country.
The owner of a Tesla Model 3 found the right side of his vehicle car marked and the rear door scratched with a sharp object. A swastika was scratched on the window, while on the car side it was scratched “4 ΒΛΑΚΑ” meaning “for IDIOT.” A message was reading “Don’t be a Nazi”.
The incident reportedly took place over the weekend.

The Tesla owner had activated the camera sentry mode and therefore he has obtained three video clips showing the movements of the suspects.
The vandals were three, two men and one woman, in their 30s. KTG understands that authorities investigate the vandalism.

Three Tesla on fire in Athens
It is the fourth incident targeting Musk’s vehicles in Greece, after a Tesla Model Y was set on fire in January, in the heart of Athens, Exarchia, that was left parked in a public space over the night, drive.gr reported.
Two Tesla Cybertruck were set on fire in the same area on New Year’s Eve and on January 1, 2025.
